Experience

Tom Okonek, President, has over 30 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, healthcare exchanges, managed care, disruptive start-ups and other companies involved in consumerism and healthcare delivery.

Tom spent 14 years with UnitedHealth Group in several executive and management positions including Claim Services and Operations, Customer Service, Sales Administration, Account Management, M&A, Billing, Enrollment, Health Plan Integration, Provider Contracting/Network Services, Systems Development and several strategic project roles. During his tenure at UHG, Tom was the key business owner and/or leader on many of UHG’s major business/system projects involving administrative execution, strategic application enhancements, and performance improvement.

Experience

Prior to joining UHG, Tom was Manager of Operations at St. Louis University Medical Center where he both directed major systems integration and served in a leadership role over several functions involved with physician billing and related services for the medical school. He began his career as a systems consultant with Management Systems of Wausau and then Cycare Systems, leading the installation of practice management software solutions in clinic and ambulatory settings.

His consulting practice calls on his wide range of experience across organizations emphasizing the connections between process, systems & people and managing these to achieve measurable, meaningful results. He works in a variety of capacities including operational & service improvement, strategic & business planning, revenue & expense management, business systems, organizational development and temporary leadership assignments.
